Veteran health research projects

Our research focuses on improving physical, mental and social outcomes during military service, the transition from the ADF, and in veterans’ lives beyond service.

We are renowned, globally, for our pioneering veteran mental health research.

Our intrinsic military connection is at the heart of what we do, and we are based at the former war and repatriation hospital, now Greenslopes Private Hospital.

Our biopsychosocial research investigates the unique physical, mental and social health impacts of military service, and is co-designed with veterans to ensure it reflects lived experience and leads to effective interventions.

We can’t deliver our pioneering research without you. We engage with current and ex-serving personnel and their families on research projects that seek to further understand the impacts of service, health and wellbeing of veterans and their families, and reintegration into civilian life.

Beyond contributing to research studies, the ADF community (including those who provide services for veterans) can also support GMR by using our programs and tools, participating in clinical trials, advocating for our services, or donating to foster real, meaningful change.
