Leave a Gift in your Will

Your legacy gift can frame a future that once felt impossible

Help frame a brighter future for generations to come through the power of research with impact.

You’ll likely never meet the people whose lives were changed by your gift, but they will never forget your incredible generosity.

This page contains important information about including a gift in your Will. Our Community Engagement Team are ready to talk to you about any questions you may have.

Thank you for considering a gift to Gallipoli Medical Research.

Where do I begin?

Your Will is a deeply personal and important document. It gives you the opportunity to decide how your life’s hard work will continue to benefit loved ones and causes close to your heart.

Consult your loved ones

Communicating your wishes for the future with family and loved ones is an important first step. This will help them to understand your intention to support separate charities and initiatives, and the drivers that have motivated you to leave a Gift in your Will.

Consider a bequest that is right for you

Your family and loved ones should always come first. If you have a gift to then share with GMR, you can do so through one of the following bequests:

Types of bequests

A residuary gift

after distribution of other bequests and payments, you can elect to leave what is left.

A nominated sum of cash

a specific monetary amount can be gifted.

A proportion of your estate

you may specify a percentage of your estate to be gifted.

A non-cash gift

items such as property, jewellery or shares can be gifted.

Review your Will wording

Once you decide on the type of bequest you’d like to make to Gallipoli Medical Research, we recommend you ask your accountant or solicitor to draft a clause for inclusion in your Will. The following recommended wording can assist as a guide, but please note they are subject to professional legal and financial advice.

“I give devise and bequeath to Gallipoli Medical Research, ACN 077 750693 (Insert the whole of / or the amount of $ / or specify percentage / or the residue) of my estate of whatsoever nature or kind and wheresoever situated to be applied for the purposes of conducting medical research at Gallipoli Medical Research. And I direct that the receipt of the Secretary of Gallipoli Medical Research shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executor for the bequest which is to be applied to the general purposes of the organisation”.

Where can my gift go?

Veteran health

Your gift will continue to empower our research to better understand the lived experiences and challenges of military service with the ongoing development of tangible tools and programs to improve lives for veterans and their families.

Liver research

A silent epidemic affecting about six million Australians. Your gift will fuel future research into testing methods to detect liver disease and cancer early on, new drug treatments to eliminate cancer stem cells and to continue to progress breakthroughs for a future cure for liver cancer.

Respiratory research

Your gift will fund vital research into pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial infections and bronchiectasis. Both conditions are closely related and are increasing in prevalence.

Cancer Wellness Program

Each year, nearly 10,000 people undergo cancer treatment at Greenslopes Private Hospital. The GMR-funded Cancer Wellness Program provides an outlet for patients to connect with one another and attend education, fitness and art workshops for a more positive pathway through treatment and beyond.

Our promise to you

Your gift is in confidence – in accordance with our privacy policy, and Australian Privacy Law, any personal information you choose to share with us will be kept confidential, and deeply respected.

Your loved ones come first – as an organisation founded on improving lives for families, we strongly respect and support prioritising loved ones in your Will. As an extension of your generosity, your family are welcomed into our GMR community, and we hope to stay connected with them to share the impact of your gift.

Your legacy is respected – whether you choose to give to veteran health, liver research, respiratory research or our Cancer Wellness Program, your gift will be specifically directed towards your area of giving, if you choose to specify.
