20 May 2019.

International Clinical Trials Day was celebrated on the 20th May, and provided us with an opportunity to highlight the importance of clinical trials in providing current and future patients with access to potentially life-saving new treatments.

The GMRF Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) marked the day by helping to further promote clinical trials with a stand in the foyer of Greenslopes Private Hospital.

CTU Manager Suzanne said International Clinical Trials Day was about celebrating and thanking those participants who volunteered to be part of clinical trials to allow new drugs to be available to patients of today.

“The GMRF-Clinical Trial Unit are thankful that we have the Greenslopes Private Hospital Cyril Gilbert Cancer Centre staff and clinicians who all work together with these generous patients to help be that small piece of the puzzle to get new drugs registered, such as those now being used for melanoma,” Dr Elliott says.

“I am really thankful I am part of this wonderful research environment where we have a quality clinical trial industry in Australia that provides the opportunity of new potential treatments for diseases in need.”
