A huge thank you to those that took part in the inaugural Red Run on Sunday 5th November,

More than 230 runners chose to walk, run or jog the 5km or 10km course. The day was fine with some cloud cover which was certainly welcomed by all!

Of those that registered, 18 took up the challenge to fundraise for the Foundation contributing almost $4000 to our veteran mental health and liver cancer treatment research.

A highlight for many was the pre-race service led by one of Australia’s most decorated soldiers, Mr Keith Payne, VC, AM. Payne was awarded the VC for his actions during the Vietnam War and is the last Australian recipient of the “Imperial” Victoria Cross. The service included the last post and reveille and minute silence.

Following the race, participants received their commemorative ‘dog tag’ and placed poppies on the Remembrance Wall. Rounding out a perfect morning was a high-tempo set from the 7th Bridge Band, getting up close to the military equipment on display and special guests, the 2nd and 14th Light Horsemen.

Thank you to RSL (Queensland Branch), Rotary Club of Carindale and Ord Minnett for their support on the day.

It was wonderful to see so many of our Red Runners purchasing raffle tickets to win one of two prize packs. Total ticket sales meant a further $1700 will benefit our research.

Thank you to these businesses for donating some amazing prizes to the Red Run raffle: Urban Hotel, Brisbane; Treasury Heritage Hotel; Pure Indulgence; Summit Restaurant and Bar; Rebel Sport; Wheel of Brisbane; Grill’d; Golf Central Brisbane Airport; Kedron-Wavell Services Club and Bunnings.
