Are you at risk of developing a respiratory tract infection?
Learn how you could participate in a research study of an investigational drug for reducing the frequency of illness associated with Respiratory Tract Infections.
The results of this study will provide more information about the investigational drug and whether it could help prevent illness associated with RTI
If you are eligible for this study and you agree to participate, you will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to receive either the investigational drug or placebo (like a sugar pill). You have an equal chance of receiving either one.
You will take your assigned study drug once a day for 16 weeks. Your total study participation will last about 6 months, which includes approximately 10 visits to the office for tests and evaluations. There maybe more visits required if you have a respiratory tract infection.
To pre-qualify for this study, you must be 65 years of age or older and NOT have any of the following:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Type 1 diabetes mellitus
- Chronic heart failure
- Autoimmune disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis
- Current smoker or living with a smoker
All study-related visits, tests, and drugs will be provided at no cost. In addition, reimbursement for study-related travel will be provided.
