    Lez Burke

Dr Burke is a Research Officer with over 20 years’ research experience. His research interests include the mechanisms of cancer cell growth and the contributions of the neighbouring cells and the tumour microenvironment to tumour growth.

Dr Burke’s research centres on the role that specific cell populations in solid cancers play in the growth of primary liver cancer, the resistance of liver cancer to chemotherapy and the relapse of patients after treatment. This research aims to identify novel molecular targets within liver tumour cells for therapeutic interventions that could be used alone or in conjunction with current treatment modalities to reduce tumour growth and recurrence after chemotherapy and improve outcomes for liver cancer patients.
