Ms Margaret Bennett (Margi) joined Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF) as Program Manager in 2018 from her previous role as a senior clinician with VVCS. She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and member of the Australian College of Social Work.
Her postgraduate qualifications in Social Work and Social Ecology have been complemented by studies at Harvard in Health and Human Rights as well as Trauma and Recovery. Margi has clinical, research and management experience across a range of trauma contexts – refugees, asylum seekers, cancer survivors, rape and domestic violence; families of missing persons and veterans mental health. She has worked with individuals, families, children and designed a wide range of innovative group work programs. She has held academic position at UNSW (in Medicine) and been guest lecturer at other universities in Australia and overseas. As a recipient of a Churchill Fellowship, Margi has an extensive background in multicultural and cross-cultural service provision. She provides training and supervision to trauma workers and trauma service managers.
