Celebrating Multicultural Queensland Month this August, Gallipoli Medical Research (GMR) celebrates its scientists and clinical staff from all over the world who work towards the latest medical breakthroughs in veteran health, liver, respiratory and oncology research.
GMR CEO Miriam Kent said the research institute boasted staff from Brazil, Chile, China, England, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and Vietnam.
“Around half of our staff were born somewhere other than Australia, me included,” Miriam said.
“Our doctors, scientists, researchers, clinical trial staff, data analysts and administration staff hail from all over,” she said.
“We celebrate many cultures in our office and laboratory and welcome the breadth of knowledge and experience in our organisation.
“One of our great strengths is our willingness to share our research and clinical trial findings with other teams internationally to ensure we’re all building on each other’s work.
“We are all working away at solving the puzzles that disease presents to us, with the aim of preventing, diagnosing and treating illnesses and improve quality of life,” she said.
