Greenslopes Private Hospital and Gallipoli Medical Research celebrated Cancer Council Australia’s Daffodil Day in style this month, with doctors and oncology staff lining up to be dunked in an icy tank to raise money for cancer support.

Brave GPH staff, led by oncologist Dr Pretoria Bilinski (pictured above with A/Prof Christopher Strakosch), volunteered for the icy dunk tank, while staff and visitors paid for a throw to hit the dunk tank target. Fresh daffodils, baked goods and items crafted by the Cancer Wellness Group (CWP) were for sale on the day, raising money for both the Cancer Council and CWP. Beautifully crocheted daffodils handcrafted by Cancer Wellness Program participant Leonie were a highlight.

Gallipoli Medical Research funds the hospital’s Cancer Wellness Program and equips patients and their families with the advice, resources and support they need for a smoother pathway through treatment and beyond.

When a patient feels supported, informed and empowered to focus on their wellbeing during a time of illness the entire outlook of their cancer experience can change dramatically. This program relies on the generous support of our donors. Together we can ensure patients and their families get the help and support they need.
