23rd October 2018

The Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation team are deeply saddened by the death Mrs Jean Pockett.  Jean passed away peacefully on 20th October aged 96.

Jean was one of GMRF’s founding Board Directors and will be remembered for her tireless service to the veteran community. Jean made a significant contribution to the work of GMRF and to Greenslopes Private Hospital (GPH) over the years. Jean volunteered as a GPH hospital visitor for more than 40 years and was a member of the GPH Ex Service Organisation Committee.

Jean was an active member of the War Widows Guild Queensland since 1970, a past Vice President and served on many guild committees.

The GMRF Team will fondly remember Jean for her incredible independence of spirit, her dry sense of humour and her commitment to the Foundation. Jean also enjoyed sharing stories of her life with us over a glass of champagne with a dash of orange! She will be missed!

A Memorial Service for Jean will be held at Mt Thompson Memorial Gardens and Crematorium in the East Chapel at 12:30pm on Tuesday 30th October. Refreshments to follow the service.
