Within days of registering for the inaugural Red Run, Dr John Gilmour has already started fundraising for a cause that he is so passionate about.
John works in the area of psychological research exploring patterns of behaviour that can be applied across large populations and situations.
As Research Assistant at the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF), John is presently exploring how to measure and diagnose PTSD in veterans as part of the PTSD Initiative, the Foundations world-class research into PTSD an illness affecting more than 1,000,000 Australians – about 1 in 20 of us.
“GMRF does amazing work supporting our veterans and works with members of the community to help educate people on PTSD” says John. “By fundraising I hope to increase the profile of PTSD within my friends and family.”
John enjoys active challenges having recently completed the 30km Sunshine Coastrek in July which means the 10km Red Run course will be a piece of cake!
The Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation is the Red Run charity partner. Fundraise $250 or more to receive a Red Run t-shirt and support our work in veteran mental health and liver cancer treatment.
The Red Run is kindly sponsored by Kedron-Wavell Services Club with support from the Kedron-Wavell RSL.
Save the date: Red Run 2018 will take place on Sunday, 4 November 2018. Check the 2018 Red Run event listing for more information.
