of a new therapy for hepatitis B. |

Cyril Gilbert OAM was captured at the fall
of Singapore in 1942 and imprisoned in Changi. He was 21 years
old. As he puts it: “If you didn’t have mates,
you didn’t survive as a prisoner of war. Simple as that!”

| The Foundation announces the appointment of
haemato-oncologist Assoc Prof Andrew Nicol to the honorary position
of Director of the Gallipoli Research Centre (GRC) which is
the Gallipoli Research Foundation’s newly redeveloped
research facilities including laboratories and a clinical trial
centre on campus at Greenslopes Private Hospital – see
Tribute

| The Gallipoli Research Foundation has received
a $5Million grant as part of the Federal Government’s
increased commitment to medical research as outlined in the
Budget 2006-07 released in May. |

| The Gallipoli Research Foundation has received
a $70,000 grant from the Queensland Government, Department of
State Development, Trade and Innovation to further research
activities onsite at Greenslopes Private Hospital. |

| It was a Million Dollar Day on 21 February
for the Hospital’s Gallipoli Research Foundation, when
it officially acknowledged the financial assistance of its key
supporters at a special cheque presentation ceremony. |
