The
Gallipoli Research Foundation recently received a donation of more
than $42,000 raised by construction industry associates as part
of an annual golf day held at Brookwater on 15 May.
The
Murray Fox Golf Day is a charity event introduced by Thiess Queensland
in a bid to raise much needed funds for skin cancer research while
at the same time commemorating the life of former General Manager
Murray Fox who lost his battle with melanoma cancer.
In
the latter stages of his disease, Murray participated in the immune
therapy research being conducted by Associate Professor Andrew Nicol
in the Gallipoli Research Centre. Murray maintained a firm belief
that the work being carried out by Associate Professor Nicol held
promise for those suffering from melanoma.
“Making
a difference in the lives of Queenslander's is something we value
as an organisation,” says David McAdam, General Manager of Thiess
Queensland .
More
than 120 Thiess clients teed off in support of this year's event.
This is the second year that the Gallipoli Research Foundation has
received the funds from the Murray Fox Golf Day.
