Rhyl
Hinwood is a professional sculptor having produced over 600 Government,
Ecclesiastic, Commercial, Institutional, Public and Private Commissions
in a wide range of media, celebrating nature and our environment,
commemorating our history and promoting Australian achievements
in the sciences, literature and the performing arts.
She
has collections at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the University
of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Kitakyushu Municipal
Art Museum Japan , and numerous private collections.
In
2001, Rhyl produced six botanic inspired carved sandstone sculptures
for the Spectacle Garden in the Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane.
Over 300 sandstone sculptures were produced for the Great Court
of the University of Queensland including grotesque portraits, heraldry,
arch voussoirs, roundels and monumental figures. She produced the
“Advance Australia Fair” figurative sculpture for The Twin Towns
Services Club and The Tweed Shire Council. Rhyl was commissioned
to produce major artworks for Wordsmiths' Writers Café at
the University of Queensland , including eight monumental portraits
of Australian authors.
