Groom
David
Groom is a young artist living in the mountainous regions behind
the Gold Coast. His grandfather Arthur Groom established Binna Burra
Lodge in the Lamington National Park and David has spent all his
life in this environment.
Describing
himself as a landscape artist David believes the best way to capture
the essence of the landscape is to live in it – to observe the constantly
changing forms, light and colour at different times and to watch
the processes of nature. Working in a variety of mediums, from pastel
to oils, the landscapes do not portray specific locations, they
are not accurate representations of individual locations but drawn
from David's intimate knowledge of the natural environment, and
his journeys through many of Australia's landscapes. They capture
the beauty of the contemporary landscape while referring to its
ancient heritage.
David
has held solo exhibitions Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
