Karen joined the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation in October 2010. Karen was employed to plan and undertake research projects into skin tears occurring at Greenslopes Private Hospital. The initial staff contextual survey is currently underway and a six month incidence study of skin tears will commence on 27 June 2011.

Karen was recruited from GPH where she worked as a Nurse Unit Manager for 18 months. Although Karen is new to the clinical research area she has many years experience in practising and managing clinical nursing, quality improvement, program management, and data collection, evaluation and reporting.

Karen was also a member of the Australia New Zealand Breast Cancer Trials Group where she had experience in reading and recommending changes to Clinical Trial Documentation as a Consumer Representative, particularly the Patient Information and Consent forms.
